Al mijn werken zijn een weergave van landschappen die menselijk activiteit in zich dragen. De rode draad is de relatie tussen mensen en natuur. Dit focuspunt is ontstaan vanuit een persoonlijke kritiek op de moderne en maatschappelijke omgang met de natuurlijke omgeving.
Het menselijke lichaam kan ook gezien worden als een landschap, waarop (on)bewuste aanpassingen gebeuren. Wat me bijzonder fascineert aan het menselijk lichaam is hoe men er door de jaren heen mee omgaat, hoe men dit probeert te manipuleren en vooral waarom? Daarom ook de vraag: welke functie heeft de ‘natuurlijkheid’ van een lichaam nog?
Ik werkte drie thema’s uit, namelijk: littekens, huidaandoeningen en menselijke lichaamsresten die steeds in ontwikkeling en aangroei zijn. Het zijn ook vooral de persoonlijke verhalen die achter zo’n litteken schuil gaan die me zo intrigeren. Elk levensverhaal is zo verschillend, waardoor het unieke en aparte van elke persoon afzonderlijk aan de oppervlakte komt te liggen.


Al my works are representations of environments that contain human mediation. The primary motif throughout my realized works is the relation between humanity and nature and this focus has risen from a personal critique on the modern and social occupation with that natural environment.
The human body can also be seen as an environment on which (un)conscious adaptations occur. What intrigues me most, is how people deal with their bodies and how people try to manipulate them throughout the years, but most of all: why? Therefore the next question: what function does the ‘natural aspect’ of the body still hold?
I elaborated three themes, being scars, skin diseases and human body ‘redundancies’, that are in a permanent process of development and growth. The personal stories that lie beneath the scars intrigue me too. Each life story is different and therefore the uniqueness and idiosyncrasy of each separate person surfaces through their body modifications.
