Some Days / Walk On By
De twee installaties Some Days en Walk On By grijpen terug naar het alledaagse. Ons collectief geheugen, vertrouwde (publieke) ruimtes en banale activiteiten staan hierbij centraal.
De installatie Some Days, gebaseerd op de tekst ‘A whispered art history’ van Robert Filliou, telt een windmolentje voor elke dag van het jaar. Vandaag loopt over in morgen, in overmorgen, ... tot er miljoenen jaren verstrijken waarbij quasi hetzelfde courante tafereel zich steeds afspeelt. Zoals het ene molentje de beweging van het andere overneemt waait ook de tijd voorbij.
Elke ruimte ontleent haar vorm aan haar wand. De installatie Walk On By illustreert dit en laat bezoekers ervaren hoe verplaatsbare wanden ruimtes telkens weer beïnvloeden. Bovendien wordt de aandachtige toeschouwer zelf aan het werk gezet en kan deze op zoek naar afbeeldingen tussen de doeken die de wanden vormen. De uiteindelijke beleving van het publiek is als een transcendent gegeven. Het object maakt deel uit van de omgeving alsof het steeds op die plek heeft gestaan. Het bijbehorende drukwerk opent als een accordeon en refereert zo aan het openen en opzetten van de installatie.

Day after day almost the same current scene takes place. The artwork questions that perhaps what we notice is not important. Only time goes by.
The shape of a room always belongs to the walls. This is illustrated by the installation Walk On By in which visitors experience how movable walls constantly influences space. The attentive spectator will find images between the screens of the walls. Offering a transcendent perception to the audience, Walk On By can be considered as part of the environment as if it has always been on this spot.
The accompanying print work opens accordion-wise and refers to opening and setting up the installation.
